Today’s a busy day, primarily because it marks the first print issue of Triad City Beat. Check our “Locations” tab above for a list of locations to pick up a physical copy to read and save for posterity’s sake! Now, onto the rest of the day:

  • The Greensboro Housing Coalition holds its annual housing summit today starting at 8:30 a.m., but registration was due last week.
  • The Greensboro Partnership hosts “Idea Slam” to try and generate 1,000 entrepreneurial ideas in the Triad.¬† At Geeksboro starting at 8 a.m. Click here for more information.
  • Mendenhall Middle School in Greensboro hosts an event to honor students who won an experiment proposal and mission patch design as part of the “Student Spaceflight Experiments” program¬† for the International Space Station today at 1:15 p.m.
  • The Greensboro City Council’s complaint review committee (CRC) enhancement committee holds its first meeting at 4 p.m. on the second floor of the Melvin Municipal Office Building downtown. The meeting will also be broadcast on Greensboro Network Television.
  • Today is the second anniversary of Trayvon Martin’s death, and there is a call for a “day of outrage and remembrance” including a demonstration at the corner of Elm and Market Streets downtown Greensboro.

And in case that isn’t enough, today is Greensboro Mayor Nancy Vaughan’s birthday, according to Facebook. Happy birthday, Nancy!
