Crafted: Art of the Taco will be opening a location in downtown Winston-Salem later this year, owner Kristina Fuller said this morning.

Fuller signed a lease for 527 N. Liberty St. in downtown Winston-Salem today. Demolition is currently underway inside the space, and Fuller said she hopes to open the restaurant in about eight months. [Above: A rendering of the building.]

There are currently two Crafted locations in Greensboro — an original taco joint on South Elm Street and a second with a different concept, the Art of Street Food, on the north side of downtown. The Winston-Salem restaurant will replicate everything at the existing taco place, but Fuller said they still have “another trick up our sleeves.”

The new location will be able to seat about 65 people inside and 25 outside on a covered patio. Fuller said they hope to put up some signage in the next 30 to 60 days, and added that the restaurant will occupy the downstairs of the building and that the landlord is planning office space on the second floor.

The building is next door to the Artists on Liberty building and a grassy lot, not too far from the new art park up the street.
