Today:

SynerG and the Junior League host a Lunch & Learn about the proposed 1/4 cent sales-tax increase to fund schools today at noon at Elon Law School in downtown Greensboro. Details here. Can’t make it? Don’t worry, I’ll be there covering it.

At the same time, there is a community forum about immigration, specifically Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, at the International Civil Rights Center & Museum in Greensboro. Details here.

Tonight:

From the Arts Council of Winston-Salem Forysth County: “The third annual Piedmont Opera Open welcomes golfers from across the Triad to play a fun afternoon at Salem Glen. All proceeds benefit the mission of Piedmont Opera.” Details here.

Marvel Universe LIVE! comes to the Greensboro Coliseum today. Details here.

Sawtooth hosts Susan Rostow as part of its artist dialogue series, but I can’t find details on their website or the Arts Council’s. Good luck.

The Bethabara Concert Band plays for “Dark in the Park” at Historic Bethabara in Winston-Salem tonight starting at 5:30 p.m. Folks are invited to picnic on the lawn. Details here.

SECCA is screening a film tonight (pictured) by artist Kevin Jerome Everson as part of its Gather Round Screening Series tonight at 6:30 p.m. $8 general admission and $5 for students. From SECCA: “Everson activates memory and oral history to ask what defines community in specific places in the South in this evening’s film selections.”

The monthly Piedmont Old Time Society Jam starts tonight at Gibbs Hundred Brewing (which isn’t open regularly yet, just for special events) on Lewis Street in downtown Greensboro at 7:15 p.m. Details here.

The UNCSA fall dance concert is tonight at 7:30 p.m., and includes “varied and vibrant pieces of contemporary dance, including two world premieres by School of Dance alumnae Helen Simoneau and Cara Hagan, as well as a new work by Assistant Dean Sean Sullivan.” Details here.

Jeff Polish hosts the latest iteration of the Monti, On the Edge, tonight at the Crown at the Carolina Theatre in Greensboro starting at 7:30 p.m. Details here.

Geeksboro (in Greensboro) hosts Totally Rad Trivia tonight at 8:30 p.m.

Three bands, including Volunteer of Winston-Salem, play at the Garage tonight starting at 9 p.m. They are joined by Roadkill Ghost Choir and Henry Toland. Details here.
