Black Lives Matter demonstrators shut down the Greensboro Whole Foods this afternoon as part of a May Day action in solidarity with the people of Baltimore, MD, in the wake of the police killing of Freddie Gray.

Greensboro residents targeted Whole Foods after the company  publicized its donation of food to National Guard troops occupying Baltimore following a public rebellion earlier this week. Black Lives Matter protestors said the company’s action showed that Whole Foods sides with the status quo rather than the thousands of people protesting in Baltimore and around the country.

After a die-in near the Greensboro Whole Foods’ check-out lines, demonstrators marched to the corner of the shopping center where other protestors had hung a banner over the Whole Foods sign. Protestors continued their rally despite pouring rain. Despite a heavy police presence, there were no arrests.
