Fast-food workers around the country went on strike today demanding a $15/hour living wage. In Greensboro, striking workers from McDonald’s, Wendy’s, Burger King and KFC demonstrated with supporters outside of McDonald’s on Randleman Road beginning at 6 a.m. At 9 a.m., the action moved to Burger King on Summit Avenue (pictured above). The action was just one of several in the area over the last year.
Numerous passing cars honked in support of the workers and their demands, including at least three city sanitation trucks and a Guilford County Schools bus driver. The protest in front of Burger King wrapped up before 10 a.m. A handful of police, including two plainclothes officers, observed from a short distance but there were no incidents.
