Sounds of the Triad: Live music events for March

It’s sounding quite harmonious this month as artists connect with audiences in the form of concerts whether they’re on stage or in a bar. Here’s a sampling of upcoming events involving live music this month in the Triad. Each venue may have additional events so follow the link for a full list.

GREENSBORO

Steven Tanger Center for the Performing Arts (300 N. Elm St.)

• Greensboro Symphony Orchestra joins contemporary gospel legend Yolanda Adams for “an evening of healing, encouraging, and inspirational music” on March 25 at 8 p.m.

Carolina Theatre (310 S. Greene St.)

• The USAF Heritage of America Concert Band performs on March 15 at 7:30 p.m.The band is comprised of 45 professional Airmen who tell the story of the US Air Force through Broadway hits, jazz songs, patriotic favorites and more. Free and open to the public.

• Cory Asbury began singing in church at the age of 14 and has since established himself in the Christian music industry, earning two Dove Awards and a 2019 Grammy nomination. He performs on March 28 at 7 p.m with special guest Riley Clemmons. Learn more on his website.

• The Legacy of Thad Jones by UNCG Spartan Jazz collective celebrates the 100th birthday of the jazz heavyweight on March 30 at 7:30 p.m through octet arrangements of his music.

Etc.Gso (1333 Grove St.)

• This outdoor concert on March 18 at 8 p.m features music from bands fronted by women. Barnaby!, THNG and Housewife plan to rock the house with pop rock, musical wizard conjury and sweet grooves, respectively. More info here.

Rockhouse GSO (607-B S. Elm St.)

• Unknown Nobodies performs on March 24 at 7 p.m. According to our coverage, the garage-punk duo is a “‘hidden gem aimed at forward momentum with aggressiveness, heart and, yes, excitement.” Doors open at 6. Learn more at nobodies.xyz/music. 

One Thirteen Brewhouse + Rooftop Bar

• New grass band Gipsy Danger brings a mix of rock, funk and soul to the brewhouse on March 10 at 8 p.m. Find more information here.

• Tournament Town Downtown is a free outdoor concert with 80s tribute band The Breakfast Club and country cover band Muddy Creek Revival. Enjoy food and drinks from One Thirteen, Stumble Stilkins or one of the food trucks on site. Party takes place March 11 at 1 p.m. More information at downtowngreensboro.org

Flat Iron (221 Summit Ave.)

• On March 9, Greensboro-based three piece JSW will be joined by Cory Luetjen for an evening of blues, country and rock and roll. Doors: 7 p.m., Show: 8 p.m.

• Singer Maia Kamil celebrates the release of her latest album “Good Life” with a party at Flat Iron on March 11 at 9 pm. According to the website, Kamil’s music is a “​​a result of a free and open-hearted devotion to the search for truth.” Doors open at 8.

• The Keith Allen Circus joins forces with The Wright Ave. for a psychedelic St. Patrick’s Day shindig. Purchase tickets here.

WINSTON-SALEM

Ziggy’s Space/Millennium Center (101 W. 5th St.)

• Winston-Salem based country band Jukebox Rehab celebrates Saint Patrick’s Day with a performance at Ziggy’s. Tickets and more info here. Doors: 8 p.m, Show: 9 p.m.

• A Tribute to Lady Gaga on March 25 features Bad Romance, a Lady Gaga tribute band performing some of the pop star’s hits for two hours straight. According to the website, Bad Romance prides themselves in giving audiences “high-energy, qualitative stage shows from start to finish.” Tickets and more info here. Doors: 8 p.m, Show: 9 p.m.

SECCA (750 Marguerite Dr.)

• According to the website, Night Moods is a nocturnal concert series that ”explores the interplay of electronic music, technology and digital art while juxtaposing the stately environment of the Hanes House with cutting edge sounds and visuals.” This installment on March 11 at 7 p.m. includes performances by electronic and techno DJs Treee City and Marteka Fair. • Nathaniel Ward Quartet and his ensemble will play a selection of original compositions and jazz standards on March 30 at 7 p.m.

The Ramkat (170 W. 9th St.) (More events listed on website)

• Flower in Bloom and special guests Larry Murvin and Kylah Leshon plan to entice the crowd with soothing sounds of R&B and neo-soul inspired original music on March 23 at 8. Purchase tickets online.

• Pink Floyd tribute band Pinkest Floyd performs various songs from the band’s discography including the entire “Animals” album on March 24 at 8 p.m.

Monstercade (204 W. Acadia Ave) (More events listed on website)

• On March 9 at 8 p.m., enjoy the old school punk rock sounds of The Downstrokes accompanied by Orphan Riot and Ephraim Snow. $10 at door.

• Fathom gets support from Bunker Hill Bloodbath and Livid Misery during this rocking evening of live music. March 22 at 8 p.m.

HIGH POINT

Stock + Grain Assembly (275 Elm St.)

• Craig Vaughn will take the stage on March 24 at 7 p.m. According to the event page on Facebook, Vaughn’s “high-energy blend of rock, blues, pop & acoustic music equals unforgettable moments for audiences.”

• Rixster Grill (3815 Tinsley Dr. Suite 159)It’s going down on St. Patrick’s Day with three, count ‘em, three different live performances! Michael Holian blows on the bagpipes at 1 p.m. Nic Hoover follows up with a solo on the patio at 5, and Turpentine Shine finishes with a bluegrass and folk mix at 7.
