- It’s Film Night at the Garage in Winston-Salem, with a screening of Wake Forest documentary-filmmaker student Jacob Carah’s thesis feature The Daily, which examines instability in the journalism business through the lens of the Winston-Salem Journal newsroom. There’s no time listed anywhere I can find, but if you show up by 7 p.m., you’re probably good.
- Social justice is the cause at Guilford College’s art installation None of the Above: Dismantling the School to Prison Pipeline, which debuts tonight at 6 p.m. in Founders Hall. From the Facebook event page: “Staged as a live radio broadcast, the production brings students, teachers, administrators, parents, attorneys, juvenile justice officials, the incarcerated, advocates, and others front and center to share their experiences with this school-to-prison pipeline and to offer their best solutions for dismantling it.”
- In Greensboro, the Dirty Bourbon River Show plays the Blind Tiger. The band is a carnivalesque display of New Orleans’ most endearing musical traditions. It’s what happens when hipsters meet Westbank yats. That’s a joke for the New Orleans folk in the crowd. Doors open at 8 p.m. and the show starts at 10, with an $8 cover charge.
