The kids from New Garden Friends School in Greensboro, under the tutelage of their art teacher (and also my main man) Erik Beerbower, helped us repurpose ordinary steel gym lockers into distribution boxes for Triad City Beat. We call them Beat Boxes.
Much thanks to these budding creative talents, who have learned firsthand about practical artistry, community engagement, the First Amendment and probably a lot of other cool things, too. And the results are amazing.
Love the Star Wars one, which is now at the North Patterson Avenue Post Office in Winston-Salem. The Boom Box Beat Box is on South Elm Street in downtown Greensboro. We’re still looking for a home for Beat Boy. Got any ideas? Send ’em to [email protected] or just leave them in the comments.
