A list published by Thrillist this week ranked every state in the country by its food and drink, and North Carolina came in 11th place. Winston-Salem even earned two shout outs on the list.
“Asheville is cool,” the post reads. “It has more breweries per capita than any city in the US. Plus your barbecue — be it Lexington or Eastern-style — is all equally delicious. Krispy Kreme was founded in Winston-Salem. So was — weirdly enough — Texas Pete’s. And Cheerwine is a thing you wish you invented. Just imagine if you could eat tobacco!”
No surprise that the Big Three made the top of the list (in descending order): New York, Texas and California.
North and South Dakota basically tied for dead last on the list, with Utah and Iowa close behind. Our western neighbors Tennessee and Kentucky were ranked 8th and 9th respectively.
