This Hallmark holiday is overrated, but that doesn’t mean the best way to spend it is at home boycotting Valentine’s Day solo with Netflix. (Then again, the second season of House of Cards does air Feb. 14, so pick your poison.)
Whether alone, with friends, or your main squeeze, here are two more social options for your evening.
At 7 p.m., the “Convocation Cauldron” art opening kicks off at Krankie’s Coffee in Winston-Salem, including work by Gaby Cardall, Laura Lashley, Chandra Noyes and Liz Simmons.
Also that evening: Local power trio (and possibly my favorite Greensboro act) R Father are playing at Empire Books in the Gate City, along with Silent Lunch, Cucumbers and DJ Modwolf. Feeling ambitious? Catch both events — this show isn’t set to begin until 9 p.m.
UPDATE: The Convocation Cauldron opening has been moved to Feb. 19, according to the event’s Facebook page. Instead, consider stopping by Scuppernong Books in Greensboro for a drink poured by guest bartender George Scheer, of Elsewhere, beginning at 6 p.m.
