All of the above. In Winston-Salem and the Triad as a whole, we can improve bus services this year. We are also in the process of expanding sidewalks and cycling trails and facilities, and that needs to continue. These work together as elements of an integrated transit system which gives people real alternatives beyond the auto. Plus, in the long run, there is no system more powerful in shaping future growth and development in more compact and transit-accessible ways than light passenger rail. Ultimately, if we want to transition from the sprawl capital of the world to a truly diverse, metropolitan region, rail has to be part of the transportation mix.
