Friday night features local and student designers with entertainment by Jay Harris.

Justin Clark: Student Designer Justin Clark broke into the local fashion scene with his work at the Big Hair Ball in 2012, but he began much earlier, at 13, when he used to dress up his little sister in their Greensboro home and have his little brother shoot the photos. His personal style is marked by upfitted apparel.

Uvana Doran: An alum of Marist College, the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City and NC A&T University, Uvana Doran also studied under designer Paul Carroll. She strives for “classic silhouettes with clean lines that are both feminine and structured” in her clothing. See what she means at uvanadoran.com.

Myline Kamsch: Myline Kamsch, owner of Myline’s Bridal in Greensboro, has done much more than design wedding dresses. She also does all manner of wedding and formal attire, including tuxedos. She’s garbed Miss Greensboro, Miss Teen North Carolina and Miss North Carolina; has worked for Vanity Fair; and does pro bono work for Pure Fashion, an organization that teaches young people to have healthy self-images. Nhi Tran: Winner of the 2014 Goodwill Rock the Runway, UNCG student designer Nhi Tran says, “I see dresses in everything.  Sometimes, it comes from very common things, unexpected moments and unpredictable sources.”

Danielle Wiggins/Dani Oliva Design: Danielle, a Californian by birth, creates her designs out of Raleigh. Self-taught and inspired by old Hollywood, she describes her style as “classic, sexy and romantic with an edge.” Her show on Friday features her mini fall collection. On Saturday night, national designers bring their lines to South Elm Street with entertainment by Ashley Watkins.

Altar’d State: “Altar’d State is more than a store,” the boutique’s website proclaims, “it’s a movement.” The Friendly Avenue store specializes in attire for women of all ages, and also possesses a social consciousness. To date, the chain and its employees have donated more than $700,000 to charities, 150,000 pairs of shoes to the needy and more than 1,000 volunteer hours for various causes. BCBGMaxazaria: Max Azria began this fashion house late in his career, after designing for labels in Paris and Los Angeles. After a decade of high-end retail, a runway line was introduced in 2006 that caught the eyes of Eva Mendes and Angelina Jolie. The site, bcbg.com, has items for every modern woman.

Caché: For more than 30 years, Caché has been “dedicated to dresses, sportswear, and accessories designed for special occasions and daily glamour.” It’s high-end, fashionable yet accessible pieces have evolved into lines of handbags, jewelry and accessories. Find them at cache.com.

David’s Bridal: David’s has been the spot for wedding dresses, tuxedos, prom attire and other formal garb for more than 60 years. They’re at davidsbridal.com.

GUESS: GUESS has its roots in the Los Angeles fashion scene if the 1980s — its triangle logo was ubiquitous in that acid-washed decade — and has since won numerous Clio Awards for its denim and accessory lines. More noteworthy is the stable of models that have represented the brand, including Claudia Schiffer, Eva Herzigova, Kate Upton and Anna Nicole Smith. Their website is guess.com.
