Mayor Nancy Vaughan, Councilwoman Marikay Abuzuaiter and Councilwoman Nancy Hoffmann attended the ribbon cutting for Gaia Conceptions on Guilford Avenue in Greensboro this afternoon.

A festival to promote the grand opening, which included other businesses on Guilford Avenue, included food trucks, independent vendors and live music.

Developer Dawn Chaney has been promoting retail development in the area near the Westerwood Tavern, where Guilford Avenue crosses a lightly used spur line in anticipation of the extension of the Downtown Greenway. Chandler Concrete currently uses the spur line, but once the line discontinues service it will be available for conversion to a segment of the greenway.
