A solid grassroots cultural movement has been fueling block parties and neighborhood events, and a decade-long free downtown music series still thrives throughout the summer.

This city loves nothing more than a big, old hype machine. But the Greensboro Coliseum actually delivered on Tuesday afternoon with the announcement that Paul McCartney will be playing a show there on Oct. 30. Big news when a Beatle comes to town.
