3. High Point

We gotta admit: It’s tough for High Point to rise form the No. 3 position and this week is no different, with a dearth of cultural offerings this week and nothing promising on the horizon. Get it together, guys, or everyone in the city will keep driving out of town on weekends.

2. Winston-Salem

A solid grassroots cultural movement has been fueling block parties and neighborhood events, and a decade-long free downtown music series still thrives throughout the summer.

1. Greensboro

This city loves nothing more than a big, old hype machine. But the Greensboro Coliseum actually delivered on Tuesday afternoon with the announcement that Paul McCartney will be playing a show there on Oct. 30. Big news when a Beatle comes to town.
