This morning marks the beginning of the estate sale for Dr. Maya Angelou at her Winston-Salem home. Countless personal possessions, including rooms full of books, will be on sale to the public through Saturday.
We spent several hours poring over Angelou’s things yesterday — those that hadn’t already been claimed by family or given to friends, that is. The walls are absolutely covered in art and sculptures abound even though hundreds of pieces from the famous poet’s collection have already been sold.
Here are a couple of shots from Triad City Beat freelance photographer Amanda Salter to whet your appetite. Look for a much more detailed accounting, with a whole bunch more photos, in the next print issue of Triad City Beat!
